Shielding Communication Pathways

 Safe.Secure.Anywhere.Always.

Over the last 15 years, US leadership in wireless has faltered.

There is no longer a major US-headquartered radio access network (RAN) or cellular network manufacturer. In the 3GPP standard, intellectual property is dominated by countries directly competing with the US. At the same time, the Department of Defense (DoD) has considered leveraging commercial investments in 5G products for military operations. This is problematic because commercial networks are not designed for many of the zero trust settings that manifest in military-hardened networks.

We propose to create a zero trust chain, called ZTC, that first tests the network using our device-& ORAN-centric threat monitoring.

Our technology

When communicating, it combines device- & ORAN-core-centric threat mitigation and preventive mechanism.  It will continuously monitor the network during communications.

This will enable the use of untrusted 5G networks to share situational awareness.

the foundation of your technology

Our algorithms and software ensures that the ISR data over 5G networks is shared safely. We will deliver algorithms, software, and test results associated with the following tasks. These will be demonstrated on our lab-scale 5G testbed (in year-1) and will be integrated into Ericsson and Raytheon’s commercial 5G testbed (in year-2).

Our deliverables will potentially replace the traditional team radios with lightweight 5G UEs.

Our Solution

Our solution will have five key features (that differentiate it from other solutions.)

  1. It explore ORAN for novel threat monitoring and mitigation.

  2. It ensures compatibility with both ORAN and non-ORAN networks because not all network are ORAN compatible.

  3. It enables protected communication in application layer

  4. It handles location privacy and unknow attacks.

  5. Our solutions don’t make any modifications to 5G networks and standards. It only requires low overhead software addition to UE and cooperative 5G networks.

who we are

A man with a beard and glasses working on his laptop.

Our team, named Zero Trust X (ZTX), proposes a software solution that enables military squads to securely share situational awareness in their operations through high-performance, but often untrusted, 5G networks.

We are a multi-disciplinary team specialized in several aspects of 5G networks security.

We have expertise in 5G testbed development and software-hardware co-design and integration.

Our backgrounds and our prior contributions to cellular communications security and 3GPP standards give us confidence for the successful MVP development, demonstration, and dissemination.

To keep track of our progress, we will be uploaded demos, publications, and related news to our resources page.
